# SV Guide vs MapGenie

The clearest difference is ads: SV Guide at none against MapGenie's shown. SV Guide also leads on review sentiment (83% vs 52%) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 39 months). MapGenie's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.4) and ratings volume (349 vs 85). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SV Guide sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and MapGenie sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MapGenie holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 85 and 349 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 83% of SV Guide's written reviews are positive against 52% of MapGenie's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SV Guide ships an update every 3 weeks, MapGenie every 39 months. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and November 1, 2026 respectively.
