# Vine Thermostat vs HF Smart

The clearest difference is update cadence: Vine Thermostat at every 3 weeks against HF Smart's every 2 months. Vine Thermostat also leads on iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.6). HF Smart's advantage is ratings volume (200 vs 40). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 1.8 for Vine Thermostat against 1.7 for HF Smart. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: HF Smart has 200 ratings behind it against 40, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 16% of Vine Thermostat's written reviews are positive against 14% of HF Smart's.

Vine Thermostat ships an update every 3 weeks, HF Smart every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
