# LightMode vs KCS Live

The clearest difference is rating: KCS Live at 5.0 against LightMode's 3.5. KCS Live also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs every 5 weeks). LightMode's advantage is ratings volume (13 vs 1) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 15.1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

KCS Live holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: LightMode has 13 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

LightMode ships an update every 5 weeks, KCS Live every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on September 24, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
