# focus vs Pomodoro Timer

The clearest difference is review sentiment: focus at 100% against Pomodoro Timer's 60%. focus also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 8 days vs every 2 months). Pomodoro Timer's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (14 vs 1). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. focus sells 5 one-off in-app purchases and Pomodoro Timer sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Pomodoro Timer holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pomodoro Timer has 14 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of focus's written reviews are positive against 60% of Pomodoro Timer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

focus ships an update every 8 days, Pomodoro Timer every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on September 13, 2026 and September 27, 2026 respectively.
