# Shield Nickel vs BioMatrix

The clearest difference is update cadence: BioMatrix at fortnightly against Shield Nickel's every 3 months. BioMatrix also leads on iOS requirement (15.1 vs 18.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shield Nickel sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and BioMatrix sells 5 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Shield Nickel ships an update every 3 months, BioMatrix fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
