# Hoby Chat vs Hapoo Star

The clearest difference is rating: Hapoo Star at 5.0 against Hoby Chat's 3.9. Hapoo Star also leads on iOS requirement (13.1 vs 15.6). Hoby Chat's advantage is ratings volume (35 vs 3). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Hoby Chat sells 13 one-off in-app purchases and Hapoo Star sells 6 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Hapoo Star holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hoby Chat has 35 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Hoby Chat ships an update fortnightly, Hapoo Star every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
