# QR Code vs QR Code Scanner

QR Code and QR Code Scanner both sit at 4.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 94% of QR Code Scanner's written reviews are positive against 33% of QR Code's. QR Code's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (13K vs 435). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. QR Code sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and QR Code Scanner sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for QR Code against 4.4 for QR Code Scanner. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: QR Code has 13K ratings behind it against 435, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 33% of QR Code's written reviews are positive against 94% of QR Code Scanner's.

QR Code ships an update every 9 days, QR Code Scanner every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
