# Zoologic vs Rex

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Rex at 100% against Zoologic's 44%. Zoologic's advantage is rating (3.9 vs 3.6) and ratings volume (176 vs 7). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Zoologic sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $9.99 per 7 days and Rex sells 11 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Zoologic holds the better App Store score, 3.9 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Zoologic has 176 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 44% of Zoologic's written reviews are positive against 100% of Rex's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Zoologic ships an update every 2 months, Rex every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
