# PocketUNIX vs Mobile SSH Terminal

The clearest difference is rating: PocketUNIX at 5.0 against Mobile SSH Terminal's 4.3. PocketUNIX also leads on monetization model (free vs freemium). Mobile SSH Terminal's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks) and chart position (#136 vs unranked). On price, ads, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PocketUNIX sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Mobile SSH Terminal sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.00 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PocketUNIX holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mobile SSH Terminal has 6 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

PocketUNIX ships an update every 3 weeks, Mobile SSH Terminal weekly. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
