# Fish Identifier vs Identifier

The clearest difference is rating: Identifier at 4.8 against Fish Identifier's 3.9. Identifier also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks). Fish Identifier's advantage is ratings volume (77 vs 4) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Fish Identifier sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and Identifier sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Identifier holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fish Identifier has 77 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Fish Identifier ships an update every 5 weeks, Identifier fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
