# Defender Empower vs EEA

The clearest difference is update cadence: EEA at every 4 days against Defender Empower's every 7 months. EEA also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6). Defender Empower's advantage is ratings volume (1.8K vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

EEA holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Defender Empower has 1.8K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Defender Empower ships an update every 7 months, EEA every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
