# CIY vs Gather

The clearest difference is ads: Gather at none against CIY's shown. Gather also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 6 months) and ratings volume (1.8K vs 1). CIY's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

CIY holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Gather has 1.8K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

CIY ships an update every 6 months, Gather every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
