# Interval Timer vs Sequence

The clearest difference is monetization model: Sequence at free with in-app purchases against Interval Timer's subscription. Sequence also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and update cadence (weekly vs every 4 weeks). Interval Timer's advantage is ratings volume (3.5K vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Interval Timer sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Sequence sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Sequence holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Interval Timer has 3.5K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Interval Timer ships an update every 4 weeks, Sequence weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
