# Type vs Speed Typing Test

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Type at 100% against Speed Typing Test's 43%. Speed Typing Test's advantage is rating (4.3 vs 3.0) and update cadence (daily vs every 5 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Speed Typing Test holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speed Typing Test has 48 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Type's written reviews are positive against 43% of Speed Typing Test's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Type ships an update every 5 weeks, Speed Typing Test daily. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
