# Scripture Notes vs PadMates

The clearest difference is rating: PadMates at 5.0 against Scripture Notes's 4.3. PadMates also leads on monetization model (freemium vs subscription). Scripture Notes's advantage is ratings volume (64 vs 2) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs monthly). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scripture Notes sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $5.99 per month and PadMates sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PadMates holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scripture Notes has 64 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Scripture Notes ships an update every 2 weeks, PadMates monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
