# Key vs Shining Display

The clearest difference is rating: Key at 4.0 against Shining Display's 2.3. Shining Display's advantage is review sentiment (36% vs 0%) and update cadence (every 8 days vs every 6 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Key holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Shining Display has 37 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of Key's written reviews are positive against 36% of Shining Display's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Key ships an update every 6 months, Shining Display every 8 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
