# IR master vs Thermal Effect

The clearest difference is rating: Thermal Effect at 4.4 against IR master's 3.7. Thermal Effect also leads on update cadence (daily vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (155 vs 3). IR master's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 2). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Thermal Effect sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. IR master asks for nothing beyond the download.

Thermal Effect holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Thermal Effect has 155 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 27% of IR master's written reviews are positive against 22% of Thermal Effect's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

IR master ships an update every 3 months, Thermal Effect daily. The most recent releases landed on September 29, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
