# VirtualText vs Second number

The clearest difference is rating: Second number at 3.8 against VirtualText's 1.0. Second number also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 9 months) and ratings volume (6 vs 1). VirtualText's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 7). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Second number sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. VirtualText asks for nothing beyond the download.

Second number holds the better App Store score, 3.8 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Second number has 6 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

VirtualText ships an update every 9 months, Second number every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
