# GradeUp vs PhotoSolve

The clearest difference is monetization model: GradeUp at freemium against PhotoSolve's subscription. GradeUp also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (4.7 vs 4.4). PhotoSolve's advantage is ratings volume (1.4K vs 243). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. GradeUp sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per year and PhotoSolve sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

GradeUp holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PhotoSolve has 1.4K ratings behind it against 243, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 80% of GradeUp's written reviews are positive against 72% of PhotoSolve's.

GradeUp ships an update every 2 weeks, PhotoSolve monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
