# Animekey vs Animezilla

The clearest difference is rating: Animekey at 3.7 against Animezilla's 2.3. Animekey also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 4) and update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 3 months). Animezilla's advantage is review sentiment (43% vs 22%) and ratings volume (130 vs 6). On price, ads, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Animezilla sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Animekey asks for nothing beyond the download.

Animekey holds the better App Store score, 3.7 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Animezilla has 130 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 22% of Animekey's written reviews are positive against 43% of Animezilla's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Animekey ships an update every 6 weeks, Animezilla every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
