# SkillUp vs NextGen Skills

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: NextGen Skills at none against SkillUp's 10. NextGen Skills also leads on ratings volume (12 vs 1) and update cadence (every 11 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SkillUp sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. NextGen Skills asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for SkillUp against 5.0 for NextGen Skills. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NextGen Skills has 12 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

SkillUp ships an update every 3 weeks, NextGen Skills every 11 days. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
