# Egern vs SonicHue

The clearest difference is rating: SonicHue at 5.0 against Egern's 4.2. SonicHue also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16). Egern's advantage is ratings volume (79 vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Egern sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and SonicHue sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SonicHue holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Egern has 79 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Egern ships an update every 2 weeks, SonicHue fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
