# Durian Diary vs FragNote

The clearest difference is monetization model: Durian Diary at free against FragNote's freemium. Durian Diary also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.5) and update cadence (every 3 days vs every 2 weeks). FragNote's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 92%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Durian Diary sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and FragNote sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Durian Diary holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 6 and 2 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 92% of Durian Diary's written reviews are positive against 100% of FragNote's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Durian Diary ships an update every 3 days, FragNote every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
