# MapGenie vs Hades Helper

The clearest difference is price: MapGenie at Free against Hades Helper's $0.99. MapGenie also leads on rating (4.8 vs 3.0) and ratings volume (2.6K vs 2). Hades Helper's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 56%) and in-app purchases (none vs 1). On update cadence, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

MapGenie is free to download; Hades Helper costs $0.99 up front. MapGenie sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Hades Helper asks for nothing beyond the download.

MapGenie holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MapGenie has 2.6K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 56% of MapGenie's written reviews are positive against 100% of Hades Helper's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MapGenie ships an update every 26 months, Hades Helper every 13 months. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
