# MapGenie vs OGM

The clearest difference is rating: MapGenie at 4.8 against OGM's 3.3. MapGenie also leads on ratings volume (2.6K vs 3). OGM's advantage is update cadence (every 6 days vs every 26 months) and review sentiment (67% vs 56%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MapGenie sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and OGM sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MapGenie holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MapGenie has 2.6K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 56% of MapGenie's written reviews are positive against 67% of OGM's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MapGenie ships an update every 26 months, OGM every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
