# Big Timer vs Visual Timer

The clearest difference is rating: Visual Timer at 5.0 against Big Timer's 3.0. Big Timer's advantage is monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases) and ratings volume (6 vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Visual Timer holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Big Timer has 6 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Big Timer ships an update every 2 months, Visual Timer every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
