# Backgammon Plus vs 5 Kat

The clearest difference is ads: 5 Kat at none against Backgammon Plus's shown. 5 Kat also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6). Backgammon Plus's advantage is ratings volume (4.7K vs 3) and review sentiment (18% vs 0%). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Backgammon Plus sells 25 one-off in-app purchases and 5 Kat sells 9 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

5 Kat holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Backgammon Plus has 4.7K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 18% of Backgammon Plus's written reviews are positive against 0% of 5 Kat's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Backgammon Plus ships an update every 3 weeks, 5 Kat every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
