# Diary Book vs Foliant

The clearest difference is ads: Foliant at none against Diary Book's shown. Foliant also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 3 months). Diary Book's advantage is device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). On price and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Diary Book sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Foliant sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Diary Book ships an update every 3 months, Foliant every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
