# Text To Speech vs TextAloud

The clearest difference is review sentiment: TextAloud at 100% against Text To Speech's 19%. TextAloud also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months). Text To Speech's advantage is rating (3.9 vs 2.5) and ratings volume (145 vs 2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Text To Speech sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and TextAloud sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Text To Speech holds the better App Store score, 3.9 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Text To Speech has 145 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 19% of Text To Speech's written reviews are positive against 100% of TextAloud's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Text To Speech ships an update every 2 months, TextAloud weekly. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
