# MasterDex vs Random Alarms

The clearest difference is ads: Random Alarms at none against MasterDex's shown. Random Alarms also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and review sentiment (100% vs 87%). MasterDex's advantage is ratings volume (1.8K vs 1) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MasterDex sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and Random Alarms sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Random Alarms holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MasterDex has 1.8K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 87% of MasterDex's written reviews are positive against 100% of Random Alarms's.

MasterDex ships an update every 3 weeks, Random Alarms every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
