# iQR vs Thunder Scanner

The clearest difference is rating: Thunder Scanner at 4.7 against iQR's 4.1. Thunder Scanner also leads on ratings volume (652 vs 99). iQR's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and review sentiment (82% vs 71%). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Thunder Scanner sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. iQR asks for nothing beyond the download.

Thunder Scanner holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Thunder Scanner has 652 ratings behind it against 99, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 82% of iQR's written reviews are positive against 71% of Thunder Scanner's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
