# Ever Journal vs the waterfall

The clearest difference is update cadence: Ever Journal at every 4 weeks against the waterfall's every 3 months. Ever Journal also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 88%) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.0). the waterfall's advantage is ratings volume (5 vs 1). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Ever Journal sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $18.99 per year and the waterfall sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Ever Journal against 5.0 for the waterfall. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: the waterfall has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 100% of Ever Journal's written reviews are positive against 88% of the waterfall's.
