# Chess Legends vs Lotus Chess

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Lotus Chess at 1.1K against Chess Legends's 12. Lotus Chess also leads on update cadence (weekly vs monthly). Chess Legends's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 86%). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Chess Legends sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per month and Lotus Chess sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Chess Legends against 4.8 for Lotus Chess. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Lotus Chess has 1.1K ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 100% of Chess Legends's written reviews are positive against 86% of Lotus Chess's.

Chess Legends ships an update monthly, Lotus Chess weekly. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
