# Fable vs Tide

The clearest difference is rating: Tide at 4.9 against Fable's 4.1. Tide also leads on ratings volume (216 vs 41). Fable's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 2). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Tide sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per year. Fable asks for nothing beyond the download.

Tide holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Tide has 216 ratings behind it against 41, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 52% of Fable's written reviews are positive against 47% of Tide's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Fable ships an update every 2 weeks, Tide weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 4, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
