# TOTP Authenticator vs Authentication App

The clearest difference is rating: TOTP Authenticator at 4.7 against Authentication App's 4.3. TOTP Authenticator also leads on update cadence (every 11 days vs every 2 months) and device support (5 vs 3). Authentication App's advantage is ratings volume (592 vs 174). Both are free to download. TOTP Authenticator sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days and Authentication App sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

TOTP Authenticator holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 174 and 592 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 66% of TOTP Authenticator's written reviews are positive against 74% of Authentication App's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
