# State Railroad vs Virus Evolution

The clearest difference is rating: Virus Evolution at 4.6 against State Railroad's 4.1. State Railroad's advantage is iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. State Railroad sells 4 one-off in-app purchases and Virus Evolution sells 9 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Virus Evolution holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1.8K and 867 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 35% of State Railroad's written reviews are positive against 32% of Virus Evolution's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

State Railroad ships an update every 3 weeks, Virus Evolution monthly. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
