# CodeWords vs Party

The clearest difference is ads: Party at none against CodeWords's shown. Party also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.2). CodeWords's advantage is review sentiment (78% vs 50%) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 4 weeks). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CodeWords sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per 7 days and Party sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $7.49 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for CodeWords against 5.0 for Party. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CodeWords has 9 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 78% of CodeWords's written reviews are positive against 50% of Party's.

CodeWords ships an update every 5 days, Party every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
