# RiffTrax vs X

The clearest difference is update cadence: X at every 2 months against RiffTrax's every 6 months. RiffTrax's advantage is iOS requirement (16.6 vs 26.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. RiffTrax sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and X sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

RiffTrax ships an update every 6 months, X every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
