# Mapspot vs NOVA

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Mapspot at 100% against NOVA's 37%. Mapspot also leads on rating (4.9 vs 4.3) and update cadence (every 4 days vs every 3 weeks). NOVA's advantage is ratings volume (1.2K vs 51) and chart position (#145 vs unranked). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mapspot sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and NOVA sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Mapspot holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NOVA has 1.2K ratings behind it against 51, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of Mapspot's written reviews are positive against 37% of NOVA's.

Mapspot ships an update every 4 days, NOVA every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
