# iDV PRO vs HDV CAM

The clearest difference is update cadence: HDV CAM at every 2 weeks against iDV PRO's every 6 months. HDV CAM also leads on rating (2.4 vs 2.1). iDV PRO's advantage is review sentiment (40% vs 15%) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.6). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

HDV CAM holds the better App Store score, 2.4 against 2.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 12 and 25 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 40% of iDV PRO's written reviews are positive against 15% of HDV CAM's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

iDV PRO ships an update every 6 months, HDV CAM every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
