# HeadsUp vs SelfSpell

The clearest difference is update cadence: SelfSpell at every 8 days against HeadsUp's every 3 weeks. HeadsUp's advantage is device support (5 vs 2) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. HeadsUp sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and SelfSpell sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $9.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

HeadsUp ships an update every 3 weeks, SelfSpell every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
