# AllAuthor vs OpenBookshelf

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: AllAuthor at none against OpenBookshelf's 1. AllAuthor also leads on iOS requirement (10.0 vs 17.0). OpenBookshelf's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs monthly). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. OpenBookshelf sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. AllAuthor asks for nothing beyond the download.

AllAuthor ships an update monthly, OpenBookshelf every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
