# PPI vs Black Spectacles

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Black Spectacles at 100% against PPI's 0%. PPI's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 3.8) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

PPI holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.8. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 35 and 13 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of PPI's written reviews are positive against 100% of Black Spectacles's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

PPI ships an update every 2 weeks, Black Spectacles fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
