# LUX vs Obsidian Web Clipper

The clearest difference is rating: LUX at 5.0 against Obsidian Web Clipper's 4.3. Obsidian Web Clipper's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and ads (none vs shown). On price and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. LUX sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Obsidian Web Clipper asks for nothing beyond the download.

LUX holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Obsidian Web Clipper has 105 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of LUX's written reviews are positive against 69% of Obsidian Web Clipper's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

LUX ships an update every 2 weeks, Obsidian Web Clipper every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
