# Root Growth vs Gun Gear

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Root Growth at none against Gun Gear's 10. Root Growth also leads on review sentiment (15% vs 5%) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 13.0). Gun Gear's advantage is update cadence (every 9 days vs monthly). On price, rating, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Gun Gear sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Root Growth asks for nothing beyond the download.

Gun Gear holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1.4K and 1.4K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 15% of Root Growth's written reviews are positive against 5% of Gun Gear's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Root Growth ships an update monthly, Gun Gear every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 7, 2026 respectively.
