# Seneca vs Cognito

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Cognito at 67% against Seneca's 24%. Cognito also leads on rating (4.0 vs 3.3) and update cadence (every 3 days vs every 2 months). Seneca's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 4) and ratings volume (18 vs 2). On price and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Cognito sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Seneca asks for nothing beyond the download.

Cognito holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Seneca has 18 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 24% of Seneca's written reviews are positive against 67% of Cognito's.

Seneca ships an update every 2 months, Cognito every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
