# Black Knowledge vs Spill

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Spill at none against Black Knowledge's 1. Spill also leads on update cadence (every 9 days vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (1.6K vs 11). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Black Knowledge sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $2.99 per month. Spill asks for nothing beyond the download.

Spill holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Spill has 1.6K ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Black Knowledge's written reviews are positive against 64% of Spill's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Black Knowledge ships an update every 2 months, Spill every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on September 24, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
