# StarScript vs GenCam

The clearest difference is ads: GenCam at none against StarScript's shown. GenCam also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and update cadence (every 3 days vs fortnightly). StarScript's advantage is ratings volume (17 vs 1) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. StarScript sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and GenCam sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

GenCam holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: StarScript has 17 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 78% of StarScript's written reviews are positive against 100% of GenCam's.

StarScript ships an update fortnightly, GenCam every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
