# PurePrivacy vs Freedom

The clearest difference is rating: PurePrivacy at 3.8 against Freedom's 3.2. PurePrivacy also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months). Freedom's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and ratings volume (274 vs 22). On price, review sentiment, ads and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PurePrivacy sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Freedom asks for nothing beyond the download.

PurePrivacy holds the better App Store score, 3.8 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Freedom has 274 ratings behind it against 22, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 43% of PurePrivacy's written reviews are positive against 47% of Freedom's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

PurePrivacy ships an update every 3 weeks, Freedom every 4 months. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
