# Own Boss vs EdgeTec Hooks

The clearest difference is ads: EdgeTec Hooks at none against Own Boss's shown. EdgeTec Hooks also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Own Boss's advantage is ratings volume (5.8K vs 11) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Own Boss against 4.9 for EdgeTec Hooks. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Own Boss has 5.8K ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Own Boss ships an update every 3 weeks, EdgeTec Hooks every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
